Saguday, Quirino - The Division of the City of Ilagan prepares for a tough test as the annual Cagayan Valley Regional Athletic Association (CaVRAA) meet opens tomorrow at the Quirino Sports Complex in Cabarroguis.
Considered the "youngest" and an underdog among the nine competing divisions in the region, the Ilagan City delegation need to step-up their games to be able compete against the more established teams.
"Our maiden participation in this regional meet will serve as a "practice" for the delegation and this shall prepare our athletes in our goal to top the competition in 2016," says Dr. Denizon P. Domingo - Schools Division Superintendent. Domingo is upbeat and optimistic about the division's chances in finishing within the top 6 at the end of the meet which runs from February 25-28, 2014.
The athletes and coaches of the City Division of Ilagan have been undergoing rigorous training for the past 20 days. The 274 athletes, mostly neophytes vowed to give their best to bring honor and glory for the city.
City Mayor Josemarie L. Diaz, speaking to the athletes and coaches during the send-off program encouraged the delegation to go for the gold. The City Government has been all-out in supporting the sports delegation by funding their uniforms, sports equipments, and allowances.
