Taekwondo jins snare 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze bringing Ilagan total gold medal to 5

Taekwondo - (Updated) Ilagan Taekwondo jins, elementary division ended day 2 of the CaVRAA meet with one gold medal, one silver and one bronze bringing the total gold medal tally of Ilagan to five.

Yuhana Karyme Pardiñez, grade 6 pupil of St Ferdinand College reigned in her division ( 1.52 - 1.60m) to win the first gold medal for taekwondo. Pardiñez was a two-time bronze medalist in CaVRAA 2011 and 2012 but failed to make the cut in 2013 after losing to her powerful opponent in the Provincial Meet.

Pardiñez's victory was nearly duplicated by another young jin Prince Mike Castro when he came close to winning the gold. Castro's silver finish was marred with doubts due to questionnable scoring.

Capping the elementary taekwondo campaign in day 2 of the regional meet is a bronze medal finish by Aira Jean Pina of Ilagan East Central School. (agc)
